02.04 / I-beam

I-beam

I-beam from No. 10 to No. 50. Standard (B), with parallel flange faces (B1, B2), wide-flange (W1). Length 12 m.

I-beam is the main load-bearing element in building frames, bridges, technology trestles and floor structures. The H-shape section delivers maximum bending stiffness with minimum mass.

The catalogue holds 80 active SKU. Fast-mover sizes 14, 18, 20, 24, 30 — always in stock.

Classification & types

Standard beam (type B, GOST 8239-89)

Classic I-beam with sloped inner flange faces. Sizes 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 27, 30, 36, 40, 45, 50. Used in regular building structures, purlins and floors.

Beam with parallel flange faces (B1, B2, GOST 26020-83)

Flat flanges, no slope. More convenient for bolted joints (the nut sits flat). B1 — normal, B2 — heavy. Used in modern steel frames, high-rise frames.

Wide-flange (W1, W2)

Flange-to-height ratio close to 1:1. Used in columns, frame structures where compression with bending matters.

Selection guide

  • Purlins and rafters in standard construction — type B per GOST 8239
  • Modern steel frames with bolted joints — B1 / B2 per GOST 26020
  • Columns, frame nodes, bridge supports — wide-flange W1
  • Cold-resistant zones — steel 09G2S with guaranteed impact toughness at −40°C

Shipping documents

Manufacturer certificate stating grade, heat and mechanical properties. For state procurement — CT-1 / CT-KZ. E-invoice, waybill.

Storage, acceptance, transport

  • Stack on a level surface with supports
  • No more than 4 tiers in an unsupported stack (prevents deformation)
  • Long-load transport — length 12 m, weight up to 78.5 kg/m on large sizes
  • When unloading — sling at 1/4 of the length on both sides, never from a single end

FAQ

Q. Why is a B1 beam better than a standard beam?

Parallel flange faces simplify bolted joints and on-site frame assembly. The mass differs by 3—5%, the price by 8—12%.

Q. For a 6 m span floor — which beam is needed?

Depends on the load. Typically for residential floors with a 6 m span — No. 18—22, for industrial — No. 30—36. Exact selection — by the structural drawings.
